So, let's see.
We've been in the new apartment for a week tomorrow. It hasn't been the most exciting week; it's pretty hard to look for jobs without internet, so the first few days I was just slacking (see: long entry about fucking Twilight), and then Bevin and Mac showed up to visit. Since then, we've been slacking as a group--currently both of them are reading Runaways and I'm reading Supernatural RPS (you can judge me, it's pretty fair). Last night we half-assedly tried to go out and see the town, but ended up buying some beer and Malibu and watching The Cutting Edge. That's right. During the day I taught them about furries and we cruised ff.net for badfic. So, clearly, we all pretty much suck as human beings.
I've applied for a few jobs, signed up for Monster.com, and generally tried to keep my worthlessness as minimal as possible.
Okay, that's not true. But I went shopping yesterday. And. Could suck more.
Val's coming to visit later today, and I'm going to dinner with Sam and Tomio tonight. So that's sort of like having a life.
No, it's really not. But the apartment is nice, the neighborhood is nice, and the weather's been good. So...it's good, I think.

NET.
Um um. Moved in to new apartment! Wires everywhere! Ahaha I need to. Work on this net thing. Y-yeah. BUT NET. In lieu of real content, have a post I wrote up yesterday. : This is almost entirely me rambling about how much the sequels to Twilight hurt me in my kokoro.
I. I'm so sorry.
---
In my desire to find something to do while I have 1) no net and 2) no job, I've been making some poor decisions.
Two poor decisions.
( Supernatural season one. )
( New Moon and Eclipse, sequels to Twilight, as I read them. Spoilers for those books, and also Megan Whalen Turner's Eugenides books. )

Trivia fact: Cargo shorts become see-through when they become wet enough.
( Senior Week Day One: Six Flags )
( Day Two: The Mount Hope Dance )
We have Cigars Under the Stars tonight, which sounds vastly unappealing. But my grandmothers and cousin are also coming in, so I'll probably hang out with them some. And be sober. It will be exciting and novel.

Some random guy who we've never talked to just wandered in. We had this conversation.
Random guy: Heeeeeey! Are you guys going to the tent party?
Us: No.
Random guy: Why not?
Us: Because we're watching Jonny Quest and drinking whenever it's racist. Or really homoerotic.
Random guy: Oh man, is it racist a lot?
Us: ........................
Also, Jonny Quest just rearended a walrus.

Dear
othercriteria,
tolchocky and I are playing the Jonny Quest drinking game. At your request, we will be liveblogging this. So far we have established that it is really gay and racist, and also looks like it was dubbed from Japanese. Also that everyone is freakish and/or a swimsuit model.

If you HAVE NO SOUL, you should download Lucas Grabeel's cover of the song. If you still don't like it, frankly, I just don't know what to say to you.

Am alive, am in San Diego. More later.
So, it's spring break. I've been watching a lot of random TV shows, reading fic, and generally chilling out after a hectic first half of the semester.
But Chash, you might say, didn't you spend tons of time in the last few weeks watching Jonny Quest and playing video games?
I did! But I was also doing work while I did these things. I multitask like a mofo. It's really probably bad. But true. And I was stressed out. So I am now R-ing and R-ing. And reading and writing Jonny Quest fanfic.
Don't judge me :(

I've been reading a pretty ridiculous amount of Jonny Quest fanfic over the last few days, and frankly I am disgusted and saddened by the total lack of hot, hot, Dr. Quest/Race fanfic on FF.net. Also by many other things, like the number of fics there are where Jessie gets raped or nearly raped so that Jonny can save her, but that's another thing.
In any case, I have written a short fic to 1. Rectify this terrible oversight on the part of fanfic writers and 2. Explain it.
( You probably don't want to click this. )
In less terrifying news, or perhaps more accurately, news that is a different kind of terrifying,
gaisce and I were discussing the possibility of a comm for fic (writing and recs) of childhood nostalgia fandoms--basically, TV shows from the 80s and early 90s that have pretty dead/small fandoms at this point. The dates could be kind of tweaked, probably, since that's pretty focused on my childhood, but. Would anyone actually want/join/enjoy a community like that?

A real text message I sent last night, to
phrenk: "Wmwnajtptjga.0Mdpj"

ahaha.
See, I like music. But, for the most part, I kind of suck at it. Mostly, I listen to music that people pimp to me, music I find on comms, hear in TV shows, or on the radio, or similar. Because of this, I have various songs that I love, but no other music by the same artist. So someone can be like "Oh, I like band X!" and I'll be like "Hey, me too!" and they'll be like "Do you prefer Album B or Album R? Me, I'm an Album B fan." And then I have to leave the conversation because I'm kind of a poser. I don't mean to be a poser, but I don't really use iTunes and I'm too lazy to buy CDs. So the only album discussions I can really hold my own in involve Sakamoto Maaya, Spitz, and maybe U2 and Bob Dylan.
It's a little sad.
So, in the interest of being less of a poser, I got four CDs over the Christmas season.
1. Mae-The Everglow
I actually have, like, three or four Mae songs, several of which are on this album. So it seemed like a logical choice, because I like legally owning the music I already have. It's also kind of illogical because I already have the music, but then I'm guaranteed to like at least one song on the album. I've listened to this one a couple times through, and am well-pleased. Possibly because it always ends with "The Sun and the Moon" and, well, unf.
2. Belle and Sebastian-The Life Pursuit
I haven't listened to all of this, just because I've been busy. I like what I hear, but it's not as much the types of Belle and Sebastian song I usually like. But still good.
3. Camera Obscura-Let's Get Out of This Country
Mostly, I got "Razzle Dazzle Rose" off an FST and then Friday Night Lights used "Let's Get Out of This Country," and I fell so in love with that song that I actually purchased it on iTunes, which I never do. So I asked for the album for Christmas, didn't get it (probably partly because it is, like, not in stores ever), and bought it myself. I only got it yesterday, so I don't really have a judgement yet, but I do like "Lloyd, I'm Ready To Be Heartbroken" a lot.
4. Electric Six-I Shall Exterminate Everything Around Me That Restricts Me From Being the Master
dosetsu pimped this album as the best of the year, and then I had a dream that I bought it, so I decided that I'd better, because I always listen to my dreams. This also just came yesterday, so I haven't heard that much of it. But the only Electric Six song I actually had was "Gay Bar," so it's probably good I got more of that.
In conclusion: I am a poser.

On the bright side, I made it to the last day of classes before I set my alarm wrong and slept through part of class.

Okay, remember those letters I said I would send? That I failed at sending? Yeah, I suck.
BUT I will not fail at Christmas cards!! So leave a comment with your address if you'd like one. Also, if you have an entry where I can ask for one, you should leave that too, because I fail at commenting on those and never do until I feel confident I can reciprocate.

So I totally had this awesome dream about how I had forgotten I was taking a fourth class. I had done, like, the first three assignments for it and then the fact that it existed had slipped my mind. And being as it's coming up on the end of the semester, I was freaking out about how I had skipped, like, fifty classes and missed a ton of assignments and I was going to faaaaaaaaaail.
I love those dreams.
I love those dreams.

I used to speak Spanish relatively well. Now, when I try to speak Spanish, I say things like this:
"ima espanol o hablar toki ni..."
Yes, I have said this kind of thing in real conversation. It is pretty fabulous.

Words that I confused in my youth that made conversations much, much more confusing:
-Balaclava and baklava.
-Philanthropist and philanderer.
-Euphemism and euthanasia.
I'm sure there a lot more of these, but all of these are words I just saw in my daily internet viewing, and the flashbacks began.
