Okay, so I've been rewatching the end of Veronica Mars season one. And it's still so good. I also still love Wallace. And I love Veronica making him spirit boxes. And I don't exactly ship them--I wouldn't have wanted them to hook up in the show, but I wish their dynamic hadn't died so hard in the last season. And I like sometimes thinking about them hooking up and being awesome.

This is directed at no one on my flist, but instead at the INTERNET AND WORLD AS A WHOLE.

A LESSON ABOUT WHO VERSUS WHOM

I know it looks very scary! Whom has an m! It's very intimidating! There is a very simple way to determine which one you want. Observe!

[Who/Whom] are you writing to?
--Whom! (to whom, most properly)

Is that [who/whom] I think it is?
--Who!

That man, [who/whom] I long admired, is getting married.
--Whom!

Here is an infallible (as far as I know) rule to figure out these answers. Rewrite these sentences!

"I am writing to him."

"I think that is he."

"I long admired him."

Basically, if you rearrange the sentence and would use him/her, use whom! If you rearrange the sentence and would use he/she, use who!

As a rule, the verb "to be" always takes who/he. Even if it sounds funny, it's grammatically correct. You can get away with "I think that is him," but of course the reverse (I think that him is) is grammatically maimed. So is "Is that whom I think it is." For the same reason!

moar heroes fanfic. Because I felt like it.

Am very amused by the HoYay thread on the TWOP forums, because they spend all their time going "omg nathan/peter! omg sylar/mohinder!" and then there's an occasional post of "also hiro and ando are awesome together but I can't actually see them being sexy." Which is a deterrent for them in a way that it isn't for me; I don't really want to see them hook up, but that doesn't make me like their relationship any less.

Okay, so.  This is my final essay from my personal essay class, with some slight edits (mostly, I have replaced gaisce's real person name with, well, gaisce).  It is also probably not actually the final draft I would have liked, mostly because my cold is still kicking my ass, and ideally I would have edited the paper when, well, it wasn't.  Oh well.  Also, because I am too lazy to code my footnotes myself, I am updating in Rich text format, which is...really ew.  And I kind of hate it.  And I hopefully won't screw it up.  Anyway!

The essay under the cut is a rambly thing about comic books and me, although it is more about comic books than me.  It also contains some lies, although most of them can be summed up as "No, I don't want to explain how I actually met gaisce" because I'm over the page requirement as it is, and while I'm sure that's a story my prof would be interested in reading, it's not one I'm actually interested in writing for her.
